The sets are popular because of their portability and useful in transformer manufacturing industries, transformer oil manufacturing units as well as filtration of oil plants. The compact Oil BDV Test Set consists of H.V. TRANSFORMER which is resin casted and a suitable CONTROL CIRCUITORY in a single unit. Both H.V. transformer and Control Circuitry are enclosed in a powder coated sturdy steel cabinet.
The CONTROL SECTION consists of fuse, push buttons, Indicating lamps and switches, one panel mounting type 96 sq. mm. voltmeter to measure output voltage which is connected to L.T. side and calibrated against output voltage in KV, a motorized variable Auto Transformer to vary the output voltage of suitable capacity. The double wound resin casted ‘H.V. Step-up transformer ‘is centre tapped and grounded with body of cabinet.
Out of these, the indicating lamps, Analog meter, operating switch, a memory push to check breakdown voltage even after H.T. circuit is tripped OFF, and all these are fitted on right side of top panel. All nomenclatures are engraved in anodized Aluminum plates which are placed on the powder coated sturdy steel cabinet. The transparent acrylic sheet on the hinged top cover at the left side is provided to observe the dielectric breakdown of the transformer oil under test . The gap of 2.5 mm between the spherical electrodes of diameter 12.5 mm to 13 mm is adjusted with the help of a gauge which is to be provided along with the oil pot.
